From texts to e-mails to websites, teens may not realize how much they read and write every day. Help them understand—and make the most of—the reading and writing they do outside of school.
MyTube: Make a Video Public Service Announcement
Invite teens to explore issues that are important to them, and then write a script and film a video public service announcement.
In this activity teens are encouraged to explore their reading history as they remember books they liked reading as children and then revisit these old favorites.
The Stapleless Book tool allows children to make an eight page book of their own, ideal for stories, notes, new words, and more.
Composing a blog entry gives teens practice in organizing and presenting their ideas effectively and a chance to communicate with their readers.
Teens can use this chart to keep track of the books, stories, and magazine articles that they’ve read over a period of time.
