Resources for Grades 3 4
Third and fourth grade mean full days with lots of reading and writing! The materials here can help you make the most of the time outside of school.
Use recipes to help children practice reading and writing step-by-step instructions. Have them sample the results to see how they did.
Use shape poems, or poems that look like the things they describe, as a fun way to introduce children to poetry.
Encourage children to read print and pictures that are all around. Children feel pretty proud when they can read their street signs or the name of the store up the block. Its part treasure hunt, part reading lesson.
This project encourages children to ask questions about the natural world, to make observations, and to use their imaginations. They use their findings to create their own book.
Every day is Earth Day! Emily shares her story of children inspired by The Lorax and how they might take action with 50 Simple Things Kids Can Do To Save the Earth. Emily also explores science and nature activities with guest Sharon Betty and The Down-to-Earth Guide to Global Warming.
